Job Description

Stagecoach North Scotland operates a fleet of over 30 buses and coaches in Orkney and has two vacancies for PCV/HGV Mechanics at its Kirkwall depot to assist in the maintenance and repair of the fleet of vehicles.

The successful candidates will be motivated team players who can work effectively unsupervised, using their own initiative and to the standard required by the company and DVSA in order to achieve maximum vehicle availability.

Principle duties will include the diagnosis and rectification of vehicle faults, with a first-time-fix policy. You will also be required to recognise and report vehicle component defects or symptoms which are likely to affect the reliability and safety of the fleet.

Applicants must be qualified PCV/HGV mechanics & hold a full driving licence. A PCV licence would be beneficial but is not essential (training to obtain a PCV licence is available after a qualifying period). Working on a rotating 5 over 7 shift pattern, you will be guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week and in return Stagecoach North Scotland can offer job security, competitive pay rates (£15 - £17 per hour depending on experience), training opportunities and more. A £1,000 recruitment bonus is also available if successful applicants are qualified mechanic and are successful in the interview process. This will be paid in two instalments.

The closing date for applications is the 30th of September.
