VAO’s Connect Project provides individually customised skills development, training and volunteering opportunities for young people aged between 15 and 24 who require more choices and more chances to support positive transitions from adolescence to adulthood. Young people are supported to build resilience, confidence and transferable skills through a range of one to one, group work, complementary activities and community participation.
Connect Plus Support Worker
Autism and Learning Disability
The Support Worker will devise and deliver a range of individual development opportunities including volunteer placements for individuals with autism and learning disabilities. You should have the ability to relate to young people with autism, understand the issues that affect them and a flexible and sensitive approach to dealing with individual needs. You must be adaptable, motivated and have the ability to work collaboratively within a small staff team. A current UK driving licence and transport is essential for this role.
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Based in Kirkwall
Contract - Fixed term post - 12 months
Salary: £23,833 (including DIA and pension contribution)
This requires a PVG scheme membership with regard to regulated work with children and protected adults.
